Job Summary
The Coordinator of Student Involvement (Student Union) is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing a comprehensive campus activities program that enhances student engagement, fosters a sense of belonging, and supports the overall student experience. This role provides direct oversight of campus-wide events, student programming initiatives, and student staff, while advising the student programming board (the Jaguar Production Crew). The coordinator collaborates with campus partners to deliver high-impact events, manages logistics and budgets, supports marketing and outreach efforts, and ensures programs align with institutional goals, student engagement priorities, and best practices in student affairs.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
OVERSEE THE RECRUITMENT, ONBOARDING, AND TRAINING: Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and training of student employees for the Jaguar Production Crew. Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and develop 30+ student assistants and event staff to efficiently run the Jaguar Production Crew. Develop and implement a strategic recruitment plan to attract a well-rounded and high-performing student staff aligned with campus programming needs. Coordinate and manage the full hiring process, including application review, interviews, selection, and hiring documentation. Design and facilitate a comprehensive onboarding experience that introduces staff to departmental expectations, policies, and campus resources. Create and maintain a structured training curriculum focused on event operations, customer service, leadership development, and risk management. Lead ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance staff skills in event execution, teamwork, and problem-solving. Establish clear roles, expectations, and accountability measures for all Crew members and student leaders. Foster a positive team culture that promotes engagement, responsibility, and pride in supporting campus events.
PLAN AND IMPLEMENT CAMPUS-WIDE EVENTS: Plan and implement campus-wide events, including signature programs such as Homecoming Week and Student Appreciation Day. Lead the comprehensive planning and execution of large-scale campus events, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and student engagement priorities. Create engaging and memorable experiences that foster campus pride and belonging. Develop detailed event timelines, production plans, and operational checklists to ensure seamless implementation. Collaborate with campus partners, departments, and student organizations to enhance programming scope and cross-campus involvement. Manage event budgets, including forecasting and purchasing, ensuring responsible use of student activity fees. Oversee marketing and promotional strategies in partnership with Communications and Marketing to maximize student awareness and attendance. Ensure compliance with university policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
MONITOR AND ENSURE OVERALL INVENTORY, SAFETY, AND FUNCTIONALITY: Monitor and ensure the overall inventory, safety, and functionality of the student center facility. Coordinate with maintenance and custodial staff to address facility issues. Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify and address any areas needing improvement or repair. Ensure all audio/visual equipment is in good standing order. Ensure all event service equipment and student center furniture is in good standing order. Regularly monitor all event services inventory for the student center through the tracking system. Generate reports on facility usage, event outcomes, and student-employee performance. Incorporate assessment strategies (attendance tracking, feedback surveys, engagement metrics) to evaluate program effectiveness. Utilize data to continuously improve event quality, student participation, and overall campus impact.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of work experience in either event planning, education, or a related field.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; M-F (Work outside of the standard business hours may be required)
Pay Band: B7
Salary: $43,888/annually-$45,000/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
