Work Unit | Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories
Faculty and staff at the CSU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories (VDL) are among the nation’s finest in their fields of expertise and offer comprehensive diagnostic services. The mission of the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL) is to provide timely, accurate and pertinent animal disease diagnostic services and educational outreach to veterinarians, animal industries and animal interests. The Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory will strive to meet the goals the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and the University through research to develop new approaches to disease identification, investigation, prevention and through education of professional veterinary medical, graduate, and post-doctoral students.

Position Summary
This position will work for the Colorado State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories (VDL). The incumbent will work closely with the National Park Service, Biological Resources Division, and their partners in the Information Resources Management Directorate. The position is full-time (40 hours per week), with a schedule based on partner needs. All work will be sedentary and computer-based. Travel requirements will be minimal to none. This position may be authorized to work remotely.

This is a special position, with a one-year appointment. The one-year timeline for delivery of an enterprise-level application is firm. If additional features or coordination and integration with other NPS data systems are needed, additional time in position may be approved, contingent on availability of funding and workload. This position is grant funded, and is contingent on availability of that grant funding.

The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date; Colorado State University Diagnostic Laboratories will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Required Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Cognitive Science or other related field, including coursework in:
Data structures and database design
Application programming
Web services and API development
Software engineering principles
Machine learning
Large language models
At least one year of relevant experience in backend or full-stack application development.
The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date; Colorado State University Diagnostic Laboratories will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
