Qualifications:
Anatomy & Physiology II Laboratory (BIOL 251L) supports the Anatomy & Physiology II (BIOL 251) lecture, which is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge of the structures, tissues, organs, and organ systems of the human body. Major body systems and their normal functioning and interrelationships are explored. The material will place an emphasis not only on the terminology of anatomy, but also the functional and developmental aspects of anatomy and how it relates to function (physiology) and disease. It will also focus on physiological mechanisms from the cell to organ system and organismal levels. The content of this course serves as foundational requirements for careers in the health sciences such as medicine, nursing, physical and occupational therapy, pharmacology, nutrition, bioengineering, and biotechnology. Information will be provided through the liberal use of diagrams, models, dissections, laboratory experiments, tests, and demonstrations, and video presentations/computer simulations. The accompanying Anatomy and Physiology II Lab is designed to integrate, apply and clarify the material presented in lecture, and learn how to conduct basic physiological tests and assessments.
The Lab will be taught on the Moraga campus in person during the 2026 Spring term on Wednesday from 1:30 - 4:30 pm.
In addition to teaching, the instructor is expected to hold regular office hours (a minimum of one hour per week) in order to provide students with support outside of the classroom.
In the weeks before the lab exams, faculty will hold "open lab" time in place of their office hour, on a day and time scheduled in consultation with the Lab Coordinator. Faculty will also help prepare materials for lab exams.
To ensure consistency between sections of this multi-section course, instructors will faithfully implement the syllabus, experiments, laboratory activities, assessments, and/or grading standards provided by the Lab Coordinator or Department Chair.

The successful candidate will hold an advanced degree in a relevant area of biology and undergraduate teaching experience in biology.
Candidates must reside in California.
The salary range for this position is $6,206 - $8,590 (2.5 units) and is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
