The mission of the Augusta University Police Department is to promote a safe atmosphere in which the university's teaching, discovery, clinical care and service mission can be successful. This is accomplished through traditional and progressive law enforcement practices and strong community partnership.
Job Summary
This is a non-supervisory, combination operations/budget/accounting-type position with responsibility for a specialized business services related to the primary operations of a designated department.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provides daily administration and managerial planning for the Public Safety and Police administrative support staff. Plans, organizes and supervises the work of administrative, secretarial, and clerical personnel; establishes work methods, priorities, and procedures. Assigns duties of office staff as related to personnel management and budgetary preparations. Also provides training to office staff as necessary.
Composes, edits and supports management in preparation of new positions and updating established position descriptions.
Serves as a liaison between Public Safety and Police employees and others to act as their representative in resolving management conflicts and/or personnel issues.
Compiles special projects for the A VP/Chief of Police. Supports & maintains compliance with AU's Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity Program.
Assists the A VP/Chief of Police in making a variety of decisions for the Division covering a broad spectrum of management and administrative areas.
Directs complete employment procedure for the Division. Administers the management/human resources function for the division to include: projecting staffing needs, assisting all management on all aspects of personnel management, interpreting personnel policy and procedures for the Division to maintain uniformity, oversees initiation of all personnel personnel actions, communicates and answers personnel related questions for division's staff, and completes a variety of reports on Division's personnel matters and human resources budget.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or a related discipline & 1 year administrative and/or management experience OR Associates degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized state or federal accredited organization and 3 years administrative and fiscal management experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, multi-tasking, organizational and verbal/written communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and other computer software/database.
Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines despite often interruptions, maintain confidentiality, keep accurate records and make independent decisions
Knowledge
Knowledge and direct experience in financial and budgetary practices, fiscal data administration as well as compliance and records management.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)
Pay Band: 10
Salary: Minimum $52,500.00/Annually - $65,600/Annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position

Conditions of Employment
