Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to provide overall leadership for the CAES IT team and serve as the system administrator and lead contact for technology support in CAES. This position establishes and directs all IT functions in the CAES and works collaboratively with Central Office IT to ensure that technology is acquired and administered properly as well as provides information technology support and consultation to all departments within CAES.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
N.C. A&T is a public, land-grant, doctoral research institution and has been the largest historically Black university in the country for the past decade. With an enrollment of 14,311 students in Fall 2024, the university offers 59 undergraduate degree programs, 36 master’s programs, and 12 doctoral programs. North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University’s College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (CAES) has a rich history of innovation and application of cutting edge technology. From our pioneering Laboratory Animal Science and Landscape Architecture programs to our award-winningCooperative Extension and Agricultural Research programs, our faculty and staff serve today’s needs while keeping an eye on the future. With programs and expertise in such areas as biotechnology, agricultural and biosystems engineering, natural resources management, waste management, and foodmicrobiology, the A&T College of Agriculture grows concurrently with the demand for qualified graduates. Our four academic departments are the Department of Agribusiness, Applied Economics andAgriscience Education; the Department of Animal Sciences; the Family and Consumer Sciences; and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Design. Within these departments, students will find a myriad of opportunities for classroom learning, research and field work. Through our Agricultural Research Program and our Cooperative Extension Program, we are able to research issues of importance to North Carolina and also provide research-based outreach training to citizens across the state and around the world.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in the information technology field related to the area of assignment; or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience

Experience with Windows and MAC operating systems, iOS, Android Systems, Windows servers, DFS servers, networking systems, Active Directoriy, Scirpting, and system Center Operations manager
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Strong written and communication skills; excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; strong organizational skills and ability to develop team performance; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff and administrators.
Required License or Certification
Is this position eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. On-site (Employees are primarily in the office and/or have a critical job requirement that requires dedicated office space on-site)
