City of Hope Orange County is transforming cancer treatment by bringing world-class expertise and specialized care closer to home. Supported by a regional network of care, our 11-acre academic cancer campus in Irvine is home to City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, our outpatient cancer center, and Orange County’s only cancer specialty hospital, opening in late 2025.

With the opening of the hospital, the full continuum of advanced cancer care—from prevention through survivorship—will be available in Orange County for the first time, eliminating the need to travel for lifesaving treatment. Seamlessly connected to our outpatient cancer center, the new clinical research hospital will feature 73 inpatient beds, advanced surgical suites, groundbreaking clinical trials, and holistic services such as rehabilitative therapy and spiritual care. This isn’t standard cancer care. This is lifesaving cancer care. This is Hope.

Position Summary:As a Clinical Nurse in the Rapid Response/Code Blue team at City of Hope, you will play a critical role in the healthcare continuum. You will provide immediate clinical assessment and intervention to prevent adverse outcomes such as cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, or intensive care unit transfers. Rapid Response Nurse collaborates closely with bedside nurses, physicians, respiratory therapists, and other health care professionals to stabilize patients and coordinate appropriate levels of care. You will be an integral part of our dedicated team of healthcare professionals committed to making a difference in the lives of cancer patients.

  • Integrates and practices according to the City of Hope Professional Practice Model to deliver care service excellence.
  • Respond promptly to Rapid Response Team activations for clinically deteriorating patients
  • Perform advanced patient assessment and initiate life-saving interventions.
  • Collaborate with the primary care team and escalate care when needed.
  • Provide guidance and education to bedside nurses to enhance early detection of patient decline.
  • Support code blue situations and assist in post-event debriefings.
  • In alignment with City of Hope mission and values, the Division of Nursing and Patient Care Services vision and mission, and with continuous focus on the patient, family and community, carries out the nursing process, coordinates interdisciplinary care planning, documents according to standards, including validation of the patient and caregiver’s understanding of the plan of care and expected outcomes.

  • Sign On Bonus: $20,000.00

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Nursing
  • Current California RN license
  • 3-5 years related experiece (ICU/Critical Care)
  • Critcal Care experience or strong Hematolgy/transplant experience 3-5 years
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card through American Heart Association
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association
